Youth Media Alliance (YMA) wishes to highlight the growing efforts of Canada’s children’s and youth media industry to support the future of Rocket Fund Canada. In less than 48 hours, 29 independent producers raised an additional $81,500, bringing their combined contribution to $197,000. Including Shaftesbury’s pledge in September, the total raised to support the Fund’s operations has now reached nearly $400,000.
Beyond its funding role, Rocket Fund Canada contributes to the development of the children’s and youth media sector through research, innovation and international relationships. Its work helps Canadian children access high-quality stories that reflect their lives, languages and communities, while supporting Canadian co-productions and bringing Canadian children’s content to audiences around the world.
This collective effort has also attracted international support from broadcasters, streaming platforms, funders and industry professionals. It highlights the importance of preserving the Fund and the essential resources it provides to the sector.
Producers are calling on the federal government to establish ongoing financial support to ensure Rocket Fund Canada’s long-term sustainability. YMA welcomes this collective effort, which underscores the importance of a strong and sustainable ecosystem for the creation and distribution of Canadian children’s and youth content.
